Client Work: Kanjo Racing UK

This is a logo that I designed for a client who hosts a group named ‘Kanjo Racing’ UK.

It was essential for this logo design to represent pride. I found that the ‘stamp’ styled aesthetic portrays pride extremely well. This is as stamps where seen as being the embodiment of  ‘family pride’ when used to seal with the family crest in the 16th century, not to mention the more recent stamps that we use, featuring the Queen.

Japan was a huge influence, as this is where the Kanjozoku racers are based. They are the original daredevil drivers and are known as “Osaka’s infamous street racers”. By including the red within the logo, not only did I provide an obvious aesthetic link to Japan, I also combined it with the personalities of the group. The ‘KRUK’s, as the followers are known, are not afraid of hard work, DIY or dirt and are very hands-on, this was further echoed using ‘worn’ line styles.

I created the type, featured, using the influence of Japanese style typefaces and symbols. By uniting the letters ‘K’ and ‘R’, I developed a symbol which appears to be Japanese, yet is the combination of letters from the English alphabet. The line style was altered as to synchronize with the other design aspects of the logo.
